Another important Italian politician received in Canada: 2017 marks more and more the intensification of institutional visits that aim to encourage the consolidation of relations between Italy and Canada, and mutual knowledge of local realities.

With the entry into force of provisional implementation of the Economic and Trade Agreement between the European Union and Canada (CETA) expected for 21 September 2017 and the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA), which will affect the international cooperation framework of Parties, the relations between Italy-Canada increase the number of the institutional events that aimed at better integration of new measures.

For this reason, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada-West has invited, since last spring, Mr. Stefano Dambruoso, Quaestor of the Chamber of Deputies, to visit Vancouver, British Columbia. British Columbia is a province that faces the western coast of the American continent,  perhaps not visible to European eyes, with great potential and an Italian community that deserves more attention than it had so far. During the visit from 5 to 8 September, several meetings have been held aiming at the consolidation of relations with the Italian representatives of the West of Canada and with the Canadian realities with which Italy and Europe intend to cooperate. Mr. Dambruoso was welcomed by the Consul General of Italy in Vancouver, Massimiliano Iacchini, with whom he met the local Italian community and provincial government agencies and the city of Vancouver, including the Ministers of Public Security and Justice and the Deputy Mayor of Vancouver.

The global interests defended by the SPA, first and foremost international security, have been at the heart of the meetings, during which is emerged the expertise of the Honourable Dambruoso and his professional experience as a magistrate with assignments on the front of the fight against international terrorism and organized crime.

The Italian delegation in British Columbia has also given an important message in view of the new CETA measures, leading to an increase in economic and trade relations between Canada and EU Member States, intensifying trade between the Italian regions and the provinces of West Canada, which require the enhancement of the knowledge of the specific needs of local realities in order to initiate proactive and far-sighted economic collaboration.

This is exactly what was discussed during the round table organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada West, to which they attended, in addition to Mr. Dambruoso, the Consul General, the President and Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce, a representative of the Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour, a representative of the World Trade Center in Vancouver, as well as diplomatic representatives the most important countries in Vancouver.
